Grape: 65% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc
Region: Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux, France
Distributor's Notes:
"Fruity, intense and structured with its very deep ruby appearance, the 2018 vintage delivers powerful, complex notes, where the intensity of violet aromas, so typical of Cabernet Franc grown on this terroir, dominates the bouquet and intermingled with red berry fruits. The wine is concentrated on the palate, supported by fine-grained tannins and savoury elements, while the texture is likened to the smoothest silk. Extremely well-balanced on the mid-palate, it culminates in a lingering finish of great elegance and finesse. A truly impressive Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac. Dourthe took over the property in 2005, aware of the remarkable potential of this 15-hectare property situated in a single block, and with its nearly 50-year old vines. The chateau is the fusion of the ancient small holdings of Clos Lamarzelle Grand Barrail and Lamarzelle-Figeac, which were separated from Château Figeac in the second half of the 19th century. The adjacent estate of Clos Lamarzelle was integrated in 1906."
