Grape: 65% Grenache, 35% Syrah
Region: Gigondas, Rhone Valley, France
Features: Organic
Distributor's Notes:
"The grapes are grown on clay-limestone soil and hand harvested, then fermented whole-cluster with native yeasts in stainless steel. The wine is aged for 6 months in 600-liter barrels and bottled unfiltered. In the glass, Les Grames shows a brilliant deep ruby color with purple highlights. Aromas of sun-baked cherries, plums, blueberries and ripe strawberries plume from the glass, intermingled with a savory herbal undertone and notes of warming spices. The wine is full-bodied and luxuriously soft, like drinking liquid velvet, though still retains an energy and tightly wound core to provide lift and zest. The finish is long with decadent fruit concentration complemented by a mineral drive that imbues the wine with a surprising refreshment and drive. Les Grames is a superb Gigondas, the supreme example of the balance between richness and elegance for which the appellation is famous. Enjoy with roasted eggplant, braised lamb shanks, or barbecue! "
