Grape: Pinot Meunier
Region: Champagne, France
Distributor's Notes:
"Eric Taillet started producing champagne with his father at the age of thirteen and now has over 50 vintages under his belt. As a fifth generation grower/producer in Baslieux-sous-Châtillon in the Marne Valley, he is considered one of the region's experts on the Pinot Meunier grape. 80% of his 5.5 hectares is dedicated to this unsung hero of the Marne valley. The average age of his vines is 50 years old. Eric is the founder of the Meunier institute. It is cuttings from his old-vines which are now used in many nurseries to provide other growers with a superior clone of Pinot Meunier. Eric's superlative attention to detail in the vineyard with organic farming and calculated cover crops is matched by his precision in the winery with selection and aging. The elegance and clarity expressed from his Pinot Meunier wines are truly remarkable and supremely memorable. Practicing organic, some parcels pending certification."
