"SHAKARA is a 12 year-old tropically aged Thai rum that pays tribute to the long history of the culture of sugar cane in South East Asia. The name SHAKARA comes from the Sanskrit word for sugar cane, shakar, which honors the cultivation of sugar cane in the Mainland Southeast Asia since the Neolithic Era. SHAKARA is a dynamic initiation to the aged rums of Thailand, a terroir that holds many hidden gems. Thailand is one of the largest growers of sugar cane in the world - along with Brazil, India and China. SHAKARA is produced and aged in the central province of Nakhon Pathom, a fertile region with a humid, tropical that greatly enhances the concentration of flavors in the distillate during its long aging process. The long aging process of SHAKARA lasts for 12 years and takes place in the tropical climate of Thailand. Aged in ex-Bourbon cask, the combination of high average temperatures and a humidity level between 60% and 80% concentrate the flavors of the rum. The results are a rich and deep palate leading into a long and complex finish, due to a very high angels’ share compared with rums aged in continental climates."
