"Paulo and Stephanie Fernandes have been active members of the Portuguese community in the US for over 25 years, promoting Portuguese culture and tradition through their involvement in Portuguese folklore groups. Their love for their heritage inspired them in 2023 to go back to their parents homeland of the Vinho Verde region to create "Limia Loureiro." A white wine that honors the cities and regions of Viana do Castelo, Ponte de Lima, Ponte da Barca and Arcos de Valdevez. Limia is named after the Roman designation for these regions. The label of Limia Loureiro is a blend of Roman mosaic art and traditional head shawls worn by women in the region, symbolizing the rich cultural tapestry of northern Portugal. Limia is more than just a wine, it's a celebration of heritage, tradition and exceptional craftsmanship. Limia Loureiro is crafted from 100% Loureiro grapes, hand-harvested from a single vineyard in the Lima sub-region of Vinho Verde, northern Portugal. Upon arriving at the winery the grapes were destemmed, gently crushed with a pneumatic press, and fermented using only indigenous yeast. This was followed by ageing in stainless steel barrels for 6 months. Seeking a more pure and authentic expression of the Loureiro grape, no C02 was added at bottling. Only 550 cases were produced."
