Bottled exclusively for Roma Wines & Liquors!
On the label: If we could sum up this whisky in three words they would be "BBQ roasted marshmallows." We also get smoke salt, weaponized confectioner's sugar, and chipotle baked pears. A wonderfully balanced peated Highland with a supple mouthfeel that shows you a slightly softer side of peat.
This cask bottling, distilled in December 2009, spent 10 years maturing in a 1st fill Bourbon Hogshead. It was bottled at cask strength in August 2020 at 58.8% ABV. Cask #707927 yielded 200 bottles.
Color: White gold
Nose: Opens on delicate wood smoke with hints of smoked salt around the edges, charcoal briquettes, peated malted barley, and barbecue roasted marshmallows
Palate: Yes, there's peat (of course!) but there's also a subtle cinnamon presence that warms up the mouth and a burst of sweetness akin to weaponized confectioner's sugar! Don't sleep on the chipotle baked pears or the return of the barbecue roasted marshmallows.
Finish: Good length with lingering smoked salt, subtle cinnamon, and, not surprisingly, those barbecue roasted marshmallows.
