"Wolgemuthheim has been a family-owned estate on the Terrassen- Mosel since 1719. The 4 hectares of vines are located on the steepest south-southwest-facing slopes in Merl on blue and grey slate soil, which can only be harvested by hand. Century-old vines inhabit their monopole parcels, while other plots house younger vines between 20-40 years old. In 2015 Michael ("Michel") assumed the reins of the operation - the 8th generation of the family to do so, after a career selling bulk wine on the international market - and has steered the practies toward an organic and minimalist approach. Both in the vineyards and with his cellarwork, he is meticulous and thoughtful, resulting in wines of texture while maintaining clarity and precision."
